Document Description
The Metropolitan Water District intends to operate a portable abrasive blaster at various locations within the desert, specifically for this request, Eagle and Hinds Pumping Plants. The portable abrasive blaster permit is needed to replace a Sanstorm CW 100 lb capacity portable abrasive blaster that was salvaged on 3/1 0/20. The new abrasive blaster will be used to prepare surfaces/equipment for new coating/recoating, using CARB approved blast media, and permitted negative air machines in enclosed areas. As the unit is a replacement and will be used similarly to the salvaged blaster, there should be no net emissions increase. Operation of the portable abrasive blaster requires a "Various Locations Permit to Operate" from the South Coast Air Quality Management District.
