The purpose of the Coarse Sediment Project is to restore aquatic habitat in the Trinity River by placing coarse sediment (clean gravel 3/8 to 5 inch diameter) at up to five locations to supplement coarse sediment blocked by Lewiston Dam on the mainstem Trinity River. The proposed project is designed to enhance aquatic habitat quality. The proposed project would introduce coarse sediment into the river generally during high flow events (spring high flows). Gravel would be added using heavy equipment or recruited from the floodplain when inundated during high flows. This work is considered to be within the scope of the Master EIR for channel rehabilitation and sediment Management for remaining phase 1 and phase 2 sites (SCH# 2008032110)
