Caltrans proposes to increase safety on highway 395 by widening highway shoulders, installing rumbles strips along the shoulders, and lengthening an existing chain pullout to accommodate more vehicles. Switch-activated solar lighting will be added to the pullout for use during storms requiring vehicle chains.
