Document Description
The project consists of executing a lease for a hangar to store a C-13 0 Hercules air tanker and other essential equipment. The hangar building is 125 ' by 85' and will provide storage for fire retardant, forklift, air tanker, and other necessary items for the expansion of operations due to the extended fire season.

Reasons for Exemption
This project consists of leasing existing hangar space within an active airbase. CCR Section 15301, Class 1 consists of the operation, repair, maintenance, permitting, leasing, licensing, or minor alteration of existing public or private structures, facilities, mechanical equipment or topographical features, involving negligible or no expansion of use beyond that existing at the time of the lead agency's determination. Field review by CAL FIRE staff confirmed that no exceptions apply that would preclude the use of a notice of exemption for this project. The Department has concluded that no significant environmental impact would occur to aesthetics, agriculture and forestland or timberland, air quality, biological resources, cultural resources, geology and soils, greenhouse gas emissions, hazards and hazardous materials, hydrology and water quality, land use planning, mineral resources, noise, population and housing, public services, recreation, transportation or traffic, or to utilities and service systems. Documentation of the environmental review completed by the Department is kept on file at the 1300 U Street, Sacramento, CA 95818.
