Document Description
The project consists of a landscape-scale restoration program within nearly all the western portion of the Lake Tahoe Basin. The project proposes numerous forest treatment activities to reduce the risk of wildfire and improve forest resiliency. Treatment activities would include mechanical thinning, hand thinning, biomass utilization and removal (including chipping, mastication, and on-site scattering), prescribed understory burning, and pile burning. The program would also include reforestation and forest habitat, aquatic habitat, meadow, aspe., and stream restoration. An amendment to the TRPA Basin-Wide Code and a project-specific amendment to the Forest Service L TBMU Land and Resource Management Plan would also be included.
