Document Description
The California Department of Fish and Wildlife has executed Streambed Alteration Agreement number 1600-2019-0287-R5, pursuant to Section 1602 of the Fish and Game Code to Carpinteria Valley Water District represented by Bob McDonald. The project is the replacement of an existing bridge that was washed away during the Thomas Fire Debris Flow event that occurred on January 9, 2018. The replacement bridge will be 110 feet long by 27 feet wide, and will be a prefabricated steel truss bridge with a concrete deck. The bridge will be placed on top of existing abutments and anchored in using threaded rod arrays. Out of the existing eight threaded rod arrays, four were damaged in the debris flow event and will be replaced with new threaded rod arrays using epoxy in core holes. Sections of the existing abutments that sustained surface damage will be repaired with cement. Utility conduits and pipelines that were previously existing along the bridge will be replaced and will require the removal and replacement of six 1-2- foot wide strips of concrete access road paving. These strips will not exceed 50 linear feet. Areas of road concrete paving and curbing that was damaged will be removed and replaced. New guard rail will be installed along the bridge and approach to the bridge where it previously existed before the debris flow event. Equipment used to complete this project will include a crane, backhoe, dump-trucks, concrete trucks, concrete pumper truck, long-bed truck, portable core drill, welders, and concrete saw.
