Document Description
This project will rehabilitate and stabilize the 36 bells located in the towers of Hearst Castle's Casa Grande at Hearst San Simeon State Historical Monument to return the bells to their condition during the period of time when William Randolph Hearst resided at Casa Grande. Work will: • repair or use in-kind materials to replace structural steel supports and bell crown supports; • repair or use in-kind materials to replace the wooden beams and decorative yokes above the bells; • repair or replace the motor housings, motors, and playing mechanisms; • restore the bronze surface of the bells; and • reinstall the bells, structural supports, motors, housings, and playing mechanisms.
