Document Description
This project would replace ~20-30 miles of railroad infrastructure constructed prior to 1949 along the UP Santa Barbara Subdivision. The project would improve operational flexibility and reliability by eliminating speed restrictions, resulting in reduced travel time, increased ridership and reliability, and GHG emissions reduction.

This project has been determined to qualify for a Statutory Exemption under CEQA Guidelines Section 15275(a) [PRC §21080(b)(l O)] since the project would support mass transit passenger rail operations conducted by the LOSSAN Rail Corridor Agency on a rail line already in use. The project would facilitate with service reliability and improved efficiency.
