The project will construct 5 new injection wells and 2 observation wells to replace and supplement existing Alamitos Barrier Project facilities that are in need of immediate replacement. The new injection wells will help prevent seawater intrusion by creating a freshwater pressure ridge in the underlying aquifers of the Central Basin in Los Angeles County and the Coastal Plain Groundwater Basin in Orange County.
