Document Description
Replace the existing failing septic system servicing the Boyes Residence in Prairie Creek Redwoods State Park to allow continued occupation of the residence. Work will: • Remove an existing fence, cascara tree and concrete-lined pond to allow access for the project work and to accommodate the new septic system; • Approximately 15' from the house, on the south edge of the driveway, excavate an approximately 6½' deep, 5' wide by 1 O' long hole and install a new 1,200-gallon concrete septic tank and distribution box; • From the distribution box, excavate three (3), 12' wide by (up to) 5' deep by 100' long lateral lines spaced at 6' on center from one another; • Fill each lateral line with approximately 3' of 1½" drain rock, set 4" diameter perforated pipe within the drain rock so that there is 30" of rock underneath pipes and 6" of rock on top of the pipe. • Backfill the remaining space in the trenches with native topsoil to match existing elevation; • Pump out the old existing septic tank, fill with sand and abandon the tank and old leach lines in place; and • Reinstall the removed fence around the residence.
