Document Description
The proposed 2021 LRDP (LRDP Update) would replace UC Berkeley’s existing LRDP and guide land use and capital investment decisions for UC Berkeley; a buildout horizon year of the 2036–37 school year is used to provide a basis for evaluating associated environmental impacts. The LRDP Update does not establish specific projects, but includes a development program that establishes a maximum amount of net new growth in the UC Berkeley’s space inventory over this time frame, including approximately 8,096,249 gross square feet of academic life, campus life, residential, and parking spaces, including approximately 11,073 student beds and 549 employee housing units. The proposed project also includes two specific housing projects that implement the LRDP Update. Housing Project #1 would include approximately 770 beds for student housing, as well as campus life space commercial uses. Housing Project #2 would include approximately 1,187 beds for students and 125 beds in a separate affordable and supportive housing building. Housing Project #2 also includes campus life, academic life space, and commercial uses, as well as 1.8 acres of open space.
