Document Description
The project is located at the CAL FIRE Piedra Fire Station located at 6185 Elwood Rd, Sanger, CA 93657. Although much of the property could be characterized as previously disturbed habitat, the less disturbed portions of the project area consist of oak woodland and native/non-native grasses in a rural area near Piedra, CA. The project proposes to remove approximately 15,900 ft 2of failing asphalt concrete and replace it in kind. The project does not include any additional ground disturbance.

Reasons for Exemption
The site location has been reviewed by the CAL FIRE Registered Forester and Unit Environmental Scientist for environmental impacts and to confirm that no exceptions apply which would preclude the use of a Notice of Exemption for this project. The department has concluded that no significant environmental impact would occur to aesthetics, agriculture and forestland/timberland, air quality, biological resources, cultural resources, geology and soils, greenhouse gas emissions, hazards and hazardous materials, hydrology and water quality, land use planning, mineral resources, noise, population and housing, public services, recreation, transportation/traffic, or to utilities and service systems. Review of the proposed project has identified that the Class 2 Categorical exemption to CEQA is applicable to this project. The project proposes to remove the existing failing asphalt concrete and to replace it in kind. No significant environmental impact is anticipated from this project.
