The Project involves the removal of an existing concrete pedestrian crossing (identified as a barrier to fish passage) and construction of a clear-span pedestrian bridge. The purpose of the project is to improve conditions for fish habitat and provide a safe, all-season, accessible pedestrian crossing linking Pioneer Park with the Calistoga Community Center and the downtown area. Reasons for Exemption
The Project would not exceed 5 acres in size and is intended to enhance fish habitat, consistent with the Class 33 Categorical Exemption 15333, Small Habitat Restoration Projects. The Project would provide fish passage enhancement by removing a concrete barrier in the Napa River and facilitate access to upstream spawning and rearing habitat for juvenile and adult fish species.
