Document Description
The Sierra Nevada Conservancy would provide funding in the amount of $55,660 to the Calaveras Healthy Impact Product Solutions to complete pre-implementation resource surveys, prepare a proposed action and purpose and need document to support NEPA and CEQA compliance, and prepare a NEPA/CEQA document. This planning and environmental compliance would support future implementation of the "Fuels Reduction in Summerville, Calaveras County" Project, with the goal of enhancing watershed health by minimizing the risk of fire ignition, fire spread, soil erosion, drought and pestilence while conserving water and accelerating carbon sequestration and storage.

The approximately 456-acre project area is located along the Hwy 26 corridor in Calaveras County on U.S. Bureau of Land Management (BLM) land near the communities of Bummerville, West Point, Wilseyville, Sandy Gulch, Rail Road Flat, and Glencoe. Winton Road is on the north perimeter, the Middle Fork Mokelumne River is on the South, and Bear Creek on the west.
