Document Description
The State Water Resources Control Board (State Water Board), as the responsible agency, will be issuing a water supply permit. The Caltrans - Valley Wells SRRA proposed project included the replacement of an existing portable water system at the Valley Wells Safety Roadside Rest Area (SRRA) located on Interstate 15 (1-15) at PM 161.1, between Baker and the California/Nevada state line. This project is key to the traveling public, both for commercial and recreational purposes from and to California.

Reasons for Exemption
The following emergency projects are exempt from the requirements of CEQA Emergency Projects 15269(b): Emergency repairs to publicly or privately owned service facilities necessary to maintain service essential to the public health, safety or welfare. Emergency repairs include those that require a reasonable amount of planning to address an anticipated emergency.
