Document Description
Improve drainage on Back Ranch Fire Road and Shoreline Trail in China Camp State Park to reduce erosion and impacts to resources. Work will include a combination of the following to address site-specific needs along both Shoreline Trail and Back Ranch Fire Road in the vicinity of their junction: • Excavate up to approximately 6” where needed for drainage features; • Excavate to install new rolling dips and improve existing rolling dips; • Install elbow fittings on two (2) existing culvert inlets to bring the inlets close to existing grade; • Use 12” to 8” rock rip rap to armor culvert outlets; • Install 12” to 8” rock rip rap armoring in drainage ditches and above and below armored trail crossing; • Mix class II AB rock with native soil to harden and compact soil; • Remove excess loose soils; • Consolidate existing rock storage pile to improve drainage around the pile; and • Compact remaining loose soils and install coir erosion control mats over disturbed areas.

Project consists of the repair, maintenance, or minor alteration of existing public or private structures or facilities involving negligible or no expansion of use beyond current levels, included as "Trail or road repairs" in the Department of Parks and Recreation's list of exempt activities, in accordance with CCR § 15300.4; the replacement or reconstruction of existing structures and facilities where the new structure will be located on the same site as the structure replaced and will have substantially the same purpose and capacity as the structure replaced; and the minor public or private alteration in the condition of land which does not involve the removal of healthy, mature, scenic trees.
