Document Description
This project proposes the installation of two 60-foot by 20-foot prefabricated metal storage buildings at Puerta La Cruz Camp. The buildings will be located adjacent to existing dozer barn and metal work shop within a concrete and asphalt covered area and will include 15-foot concrete aprons along length of new structures and 6-inch underground rain water drainage system. Work includes removal of 2200 square foot existing 6-inch thick concrete slab with removed materials re-utilized on site as rip-rap, removal of 1900 square foot deteriorated 2-inch asphalt drive with materials re-utilized in existing parking area, excavation of approximately 30 yards of soil with spoils recontoured into surrounding onsite dirt covered areas. Leveling of area for placement of cement slab, placement of wood form boards and re-enforcing steel. Excavation of rain water drain pipe trench 60-feet in length by 24-inches deep, placement of 6-inch underground rainwater drain pipe and back fill, Placement and finishing of 140-yards of transit mix concrete. Reasons for Exemption
The project is consistent with two Categorical Exemptions: 15303, Class 3 New Construction or Conversion of Small Structures and 15304, Class 4 Minor Alterations to Land. After completing an environmental analysis, the Department has determined this project will have no significant impact on the environment. This determination is based on field assessments, a CNDDB search, greenhouse gas emission calculations, and archaeological review completed by CAL FIRE Archaeological staff. Field review by CAL FIRE staff confmned that no exceptions apply which would preclude the use of a Notice of Exemption for this project. The Department has concluded that no significant environmental impact would occur to aesthetics, agriculture and forestland/timberland, air quality, biological resources, cultural resources, geology and soils, greenhouse gas emissions, hazards and hazardous materials, hydrology and water quality, land use planning, mineral resources, noise, population and housing, public services, recreation, transportation/traffic, or to utilities and service systems. Documentation of the environmental review completed by the Department is retained on file at CAL FIRE MVU Headquarters in El Cajon.
