Document Description
In December 2017 the transmission/distribution main serving the water system for the Town of Independence failed and was replaced with a 12" HOPE Pipe that currently sits on-grade. The proposed project is to install the on-grade transmission/distribution main under ground to improve security of the towns water supply.

Section 60101 (c) of the California Water Laws (Titles 17 & 22 CCR) lists Construction of any water supply and distribution lines of less than sixteen inches in diameter, and related appurtenances" as a specific activity that falls within the class of categorical exemption. As the main is 12-inches in diameter this project qualifies for this categorical exemption. Further this main will be installed within a previously disturbed area.
