This project will remove nonnative plant species and accumulated organic material (i.e. duff) through a combination of raking, cutting, solarizing and chemical treatments on five acres of the "Tomato Fields" parcel of South Carlsbad State Beach in order to enhance upland and vernal pool habitat. Measures to be implemented to avoid impact may be obtained by submitting a request to the project Environmental Coordinator listed below.

No potential for significant impact to the environment is anticipated in compliance with CEQA §15300.4. If the project is implemented as indicated within the CDPR Project Evaluation Form, then it is exempt under CEQA §15304-Minor Alterations to Land. The action falls under the Departmental List of Exempt activities according to CEQA §15300.4 as "Minor alterations in the condition of land and vegetation that will not involve removal of healthy, mature, scenic trees" (Class 4, Section 15304).
