Document Description
Undertake an Integrated Pest Management (1PM) program at Del Norte Coast Redwoods State Park and Jedediah Smith Redwoods State Park to control and eradicate the invasive, non-native, shiny geranium (Geranium Jucidum). In areas that are relatively flat, with few plants, workers will use hand tools to manually remove plants. Excavation to remove the plants will not exceed 12". Where the shiny geranium infestation covers a large area and is well established, staff will use an herbicide to treat the plants foliarly. Herbicide treatment will occur only during the dry season and a North Coast Redwoods District (NCRD) staff member with a Qualified Applicators Certificate will oversee all applications conducted by NCRD Natural Resource staff.
