Document Description
Remove non-native plant species and plant native nectar plant species in the dune area of Tolowa Dunes State Park to enhance habitat and support recovery of the federally threatened Oregon silverspot butterfly (OSB). Project work will occur during the OSB flight season of July 1 to September 5. Work will: • Use shovels and other hand tools to excavate up to 24" in depth to remove invasive non-native plant species; • Pile and burn all removed vegetation on site or transport to an appropriate dump area to be burned at a later date or place removed vegetation in unrestored areas adjacent to the project area and let it decompose naturally; and • Plant and spread seed for native plants to reestablish habitat for the OSB.
