Document Description
The California Department of Fish and Wildlife has amended Lake and Streambed Alteration Agreement number 1600-2013- 0223-R5, pursuant to Section 1602 of the Fish and Game Code to United Water Conservation District as represented by Linda Purpus. The project consists of excavating and relocating approximately 2,010 cubic yards (CY) of sediment that is located along the south bank upstream of the Diversion and at the north and south fish ladder entrance gates. Work upstream of the Diversion in.eludes excavation of sediment to create a 20 ft. wide by 600 ft. long by 2 ft. deep pilot channel. Work downstream of the Diversion includes sediment removal at the north fish ladder entrance gate and at the south fish ladder entrance gate.

Reasons for Exemption
Class 1 consists of the maintenance of existing structures, facilities, and topographical features, included is the maintenance of stream flows and stream channels to protect fish and wildlife resources. Excavation and relocation of sediment that has accumulated in the channel upstream and downstream of the Freeman Diversion shall take place so the diversion functions to its designed capacity, including its ability to allow native fish to traverse upstream.
