Document Description
The purpose of the project is to operate the DC 2nd Afterbay Wasteway gates as part of an annual inspection. Both gates will be opened fully and then closed as part of an annual gate exercise. Water will be discharged into the wasteway channel, which flows into the nearby unnamed drainage that runs parallel to North Ventura Avenue. Water quality monitors will be present onsite and water will be discharged in accordance to the General De Minimis Waste Discharge Requirements for Discharges to Surface Waters Permit.

This project is exempt because it involves routine maintenance of an existing State Water Project facility without disturbance to an environmental resource. Because this activity can be implemented without environmental impacts, the Categorical Exemption Class 1 will be used for CEQA compliance.
