Document Description
The project consists of the road surface treatment (chip seal) of Tuolumne Road. The chip seal will be applied to the existing road width. There may be base spot repairs (aka "dig-outs") performed within the existing pavement envelope, prior to the application of the chip seal, to a depth no greater than three feet below the existing road surface. No widening of the road or work on the non-paved sections of the roadway are anticipated. Following the chip seal, the road lanes will be striped with waterborne retroreflective paint. The project is to maintain an existing County road facility.

After reviewing the project and its setting, the Environmental Coordinator for the County of Tuolumne has determined that the chip seal and repairs on Tuolumne Road is categorically exempt from review under the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA), pursuant to Section 15301 of the State CEQA Guidelines. The project includes the repair and maintenance of an existing roadway and involves no expansion of the existing use. None of the exceptions to the categorical exemptions provided in Section 15300.2 of the State CEQA Guidelines apply to the proposed project.
