Document Description
The project consist of widening the shoulders of Phoenix Lake Road from 4 to 6 feet in width, between Ridgewood Drive and De Los Portales Road, but will not alter the vertical alignment. The project also proposes to extend or replace existing culverts to accommodate shoulder widening, the installation of new roadside signs with florescent sheeting (to warn drivers of driveways and cross traffic), and the installation of dynamic variable speed warning signs (to slow driver's speed). This project is to improve public safety of motorists for an approximate length of 2,600 feet of Phoenix Lake Road.

After reviewing the project and its setting, the Environmental Coordinator for the County of Tuolumne has determined that the Phoenix Lake Road Improvement Project is categorically exempt from review under the California Environmental Quality Act pursuant to Section 15301 of the State CEQA Guidelines. The project includes the repair, maintenance and minor alteration of an existing roadway and involves negligible expansion of the existing use. None of the exceptions to the use of a categorical exemption found in Section 15300.2 of the State CEQA Guidelines apply to this project.
