Document Description
The United States Air Force (Air Force) has prepared a Final Draft Environmental Assessment (EA), and Final Draft Finding of No Significant Impact (FONSI), for the replacement of an aging overhead electrical distribution line, Feeder D1, on Vandenberg Air Force Base (AFB). These replacements are needed because existing conditions do not provide a reliable power source required by Vandenberg AFB’s launch and range mission. As a result, many mission critical facilities are vulnerable to interruption of the main power supply or catastrophic powerline failure, which could result in a delay or cancellation of national defense missions. Resources analyzed in the Final Draft EA include air quality, biological resources, cultural resources, geology and earth resources, land use and coastal zone resources, noise, public health and safety, and water resources. The Final Draft EA and Final Draft FONSI conclude that there will be no significant environmental impacts resulting from the Proposed Action.
