Type, Section or Code
Class 1 - Section 15301. Existing Facilities, Class 2 - Section 15302. Replacement or Reconstruction
Reasons for Exemption
See NOE for full Exempt Statuses. The proposed project would replace two portable classroom buildings (containing four classrooms) with one permanent classroom building (containing six classrooms) on the Cherry Chase Elementary School campus. The project would result in a net increase of two classrooms but would not increase enrollment by more than 25 percent or 10 net new classrooms. The project also proposes other minor improvements, including constructing a new play structure and sidewalk and planting new landscaping. The project would not introduce a new use to the Cherry Chase Elementary School campus and would result in a negligible increase in capacity. Per section 15300.2 of the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) Guidelines, it has been determined that the project is not located on a hazardous waste site, does not contain environmental resources of hazardous or critical concern, would not result in a significant impact due to unusual circumstances, damage scenic resources, affect a historic resource, or result in a cumulative impact. For these reasons and those stated above, the project is exempt from the provisions of CEQA.
