Document Description
Establish a trail from the new Kirkwood Entrance parking lot to the Interpretive Shelter in Castle Rock State to provide a more direct route to the Goat Rock climbing area as well as an additional hiking loop for park visitors. Work will: • Remove approximately 1,948 ft. of barbed wire fencing; • Excavate approximately 1,600ft³ of soil for use as footing backfill on all trail structures; • Rake duff and organics off of the pro:posed trail alignment to below the fill slope; • Construct an approximately 3,448ft long x 4ft wide trail; • At Kings Creek, excavate to install two (2) 16"x24"x8" concrete abutments (one (1) per side); • Install a debris net across the stream to catch debris from construction activities; • Use steel I-beams to span the abutments and construct a 65 ft. long x 5ft wide pedestrian trail bridge; • Install one (1) 16ft. long x 5ft wide puncheon; • Use 433ft3 of rock to construct retaining walls, a rock overlook, and a rock armored swale; • Construct and install twenty-six (26) double-sided interlocking wood steps; • Install one ( 1) wood bench at the overlook; • Install four (4) directional trail signs at various locations along the trail; • Remove an soil retention devices after completion of project; and . • Use stockpiled duff and organics to rehabilitate all disturbed areas.
