Document Description
The project is limited to eleven encroachments. Two encroachments are for water diversion from unnamed tributaries to Redwood Creek. Water that is diverted for storage will be released into an unnamed tributary of Redwood Creek during the low flow season to augment streamflow in the main stem Redwood Creek. Work for the water diversion will include construction, use, and maintenance of the water diversion infrastructure. Two encroachments are the construction of two rock armored spillways to convey overflow from each pond. Work for this encroachment will include excavation, backfilling, compaction of fill, and rock armoring as necessary to minimize erosion. One encroachment is the construction of the western pond primary and secondary outflows and cooling/filtration gallery to be constructed in the western gully for the purpose of flow augmentation. Work will include placing discharge lines in the western gully, filling the western gully with approximately 1,350 cubic yards of sand and gravel, and capping the sand and gravel with 2.5 feet of clean gravel and cobble. Two proposed encroachments are to upgrade existing culverts in the western and eastern gullies. Work for these encroachments will include excavation, removal of the existing culverts, replacement with new properly sized culverts, backfilling and compaction of fill, and rock armoring as necessary to minimize erosion. Three encroachments will install grade control structures to stabilize the three eroding gullies (western, eastern, and central). Work will include placing rock armor check dams to stabilize each gully. One encroachment is installation of a series of large wood structures and rip rap in Redwood Creek to promote bank stabilization and enhance instream habitat.
