Document Description
The Proposed Action is to replace the 720-foot-long open-deck Union Pacific Railroad Narlon Bridge crossing San Antonio Creek at V AFB with the same or similar materials and design. The bridge was built in 1896 and is deteriorating; if not replaced, the bridge may be declared unsafe and passenger and freight rail traffic may be interrupted. Temporary impacts include construction of staging areas surrounding the bridge, two temporary work bridges over the riparian zone to facilitate use of equipment and avoid impacts to the creek, and mowing of vegetation within the work area and along tightly curved roads. All areas of temporarily disturbed vegetation will be revegetated and/ or restored.
