Document Description
The project consists of a new electrical system including solar panels, battery storage, power inverter, new wiring and led lighting to the existing facility, and a 648-square ft. storage building for batteries and a small generator to charge the batteries when the output from the solar panels is insufficient. The location for one solar canopy as well as the storage shed is an area that is currently being used as a parking lot, and is highly disturbed. The second canopy will be located on the hillside behind the shed, minimizing the amount of disturbance caused through the placement of wires.

This project consists of one 648 square ft. shed and two solar canopies fits the description for a Class 3, § 15303: New Construction or Conversion of Small Structures Categorical Exemption. Field review by CAL FIRE staff confirmed that no exceptions apply that would preclude the use of a notice of exemption for this project. The Department has concluded that no significant environmental impact would occur to aesthetics, agriculture and forestland or timberland, air quality, biological resources, cultural resources, geology and soils, greenhouse gas emissions, hazards and hazardous materials, hydrology and water quality, land use planning, mineral resources, noise, population and housing, public services, recreation, transportation or traffic, or to utilities and service systems. Documentation of the environmental review completed by the Department is kept on file at LNU Headquarters, 1199 Big Tree Road, St. Helena CA 94574.
