Document Description
Class 4 Categorical Exemption for fire fuel reduction up to 100 feet around houses and along egress and ingress roads/driveways to reduce fire risk and remove hazard trees. The project has received agreement to a CalFire Grant; CEQA filing is required to release grant funds. Fire reduction will support the FireWise organization effort and provide high GHG reduction, and will not result in any significant adverse environmental impacts

Reasons for Exemption
Project is in forestland partly devastated by the Valley Fire, declared an emergency, September 22, 2015. The project is located within a FRAP Very High Hazard Zone; reduces the fuel load of hazardous burned trees posing a threat to public health and safety; tree removal will comply with the Tree Mortality Task Force Guidelines, 2016. The Lake County Community Development Department has determined that the project will not have a significant effect on the environment and is, therefore, exempt from the provisions of CEQA.
