Document Description
Cal-Ore Telephone, a local telephone company, plans on installing new fiber optic cable and vaults on the west side of Highway 139 near Newell California, within the Caltrans Right-of Way (ROW). The new cable will be installed adjacent to an existing cable installed in 1989 west of Highway 139. The alignment of the new cable within the Caltrans ROW is approximately 4 miles in length and runs from the intersection of County Road 120 and Highway 139 south to the intersection of County Road 140 (Old Alturas Highway) and Highway 139. The alignment is located entirely within the Caltrans ROW with exception of a small segment of cable (approximately 120 feet) near the center of the alignment. The majority of the length of the installation will be underground. Approximately 305 feet of the installation will be aerial and will be installed on existing poles.
