The outside shoulder will be paved with 0.50 foot of hot-mix asphalt. The purpose of this project is to repair, preserve, and extend the life of the existing pavement. The existing pavement is subject to considerable amount of distress and cracking due to heavy truck traffic. Therefore, work is needed to restore the pavement and improve the safety of the traveling public by minimizing frequent maintenance lane closures, and to minimize the exposure of maintenance personnel to high speed traffic.
