Document Description
The proposed project would consist of creating fuel management zone (FMZ) 23 (16 acres) and FMZ 24 (38 acres) surrounding Canyon Acres Drive and Laguna Canyon Road in Laguna Beach. Goat-grazing and hand crew treatment in more biologically sensitive areas would reduce or clear vegetation load in 100-foot wide sections in FMZ 23 and FMZ 24 to reduce the risk of wildfire threat to commercial and residential structures. The majority of perennial root systems would remain to minimize erosion in erosion-prone areas. Native vegetation waste would be mulched and left on-site to minimize erosion. Non-native vegetation waste would be transported to a green waste recycling facility or landfill if not recyclable.
