Document Description
CDCR lease an approximately 8,273 square foot office located in Fairfield. The existing space has security issues and is considered substandard. Structural safety is an issue and the building is at risk of shifting. Without further structural assessments staff safety will continue to be an issue. Additionally, there is a possible pest/rodent infestation making the work space not suitable for staff. The project will involve interior renovation of an existing office including re-configuring the work stations and office spaces, replacing ceiling tiles, electrical fixtures and relocating some mechanical equipment. This project is needed to provide a proper training facility program space for educational and rehabilitative needs of parolees in the bay area.

Reasons for Exemption
The projects consist of minor alteration to existing facilities that involve no expansion of use. The project site is not in an environmentally sensitive area and none of the exceptions to this exemption are applicable. This is one of a class of projects that the Secretary for Resources has found do not have a significant effect on the environment, and therefore is declared to be categorically exempt from the requirement for preparing an environmental document. None of the exceptions to a notice of exemption apply.
