Document Description
The California Department of Fish and Wildlife has executed Lake and Streambed Alteration Agreement number 1600-2019-0147-R3, pursuant to Section 1602 of the Fish and Game Code to Sonoma Ecology Center. The project includes vegetation management including trimming, mowing, and removal of flow-constricting vegetation; it will be implemented to maintain conveyance and capacity and to enhance native habitat. Invasive vegetation will be removed, but healthy mature trees will only be trimmed. They also include sediment and debris management, which will only occur when a downed tree or debris threatens flood conveyance capacity or channel stability. Tree or debris may be modified by trimming, or re-positioning within the stream, or placed on the bank, with the preference being to leave downed trees in place with minimal modification. Activities also include bank stabilization, which will involve repair and stabilization of stream banks when weakened, unstable, or failing bank threatens public safety, impairs roads or access, generates erosion, increases downstream sedimentation, or impacts riparian habitat. No in-water work will occur.
