Document Description
The Proposed Project would remove the arch culvert along with rock gabions surrounding the culvert which currently provide support to the banks of Stokes Creek. They would be replaced with a pre-fabricated bridge in the same location as the culvert. The disturbed creek banks shall be restored to a more natural condition to support improved hydraulic function of the creek as well as the restoration of riparian habitat to support wildlife endemic to the area. The bridge would be designed to a size which would accommodate emergency vehicles as well as be visually compatible with the surroundings. The construction methods would include measures to preserve existing oak woodland habitat surrounding the Proposed Project site. Necessary road repairs shall occur on either side of the bridge to restore continuity of the roadway with the new bridge. A restoration plan shall be implemented following the Bridge's construction to monitor the success of the restoration effort as well as replace any plantings that aren't successful.
