Document Description
The purpose of the project is to improve efficiency and reduce greenhouse gas emissions for existing homes by retrofitting existing wall furnaces. Occupants will benefit directly by reduced gas usage, energy bills and possibly a healthier environment. Ratepayers will benefit through technology development of a better product.

Reasons for Exemption
This project fits within Cal. Code Regs., tit. 14, sect. §15301 because it involves minor construction and equipment installation at existing facilities, with no expansion of capacity. Installation of furnace retrofits will occur at approximately four existing multi-family dwellings in urban areas in the cities of Los Angeles, Long Beach,Oakland, and Reseda. Existing furnaces will be retrofitted to be more energy efficient. The new units will be approximately the same size as the existing units. There will be minor mechanical and electrical work. No expansion of capacity will result. For these reasons, the proposed project will have no significant effect on the environment and fits within section 15301.
