Document Description
California Recreation Company proposes to replace the wood decking walking surface and dock boxes at the Bayshore Marina. The existing deck and dock boxes have reached the end of its useful life, in addition. In addition, the existing fire hose cabinets, cleats, guide roller assemblies, utility stands, dock wheels, light pedestals, power centers, communication boxes, life ring enclosures, trash enclosures, and gangway roller assemblies will be removed, salvaged and reinstalled. Existing power center covers will be replaced with fiberglass covers. No other changes of modifications are involved and the maintenance activities will not include replacement or addition of ware-side piles for the docking system and there will be no change in the slip count or layout. In order to minimize water quality impacts, construction debris will be prevented from entering the marina waters. However, any debris inadvertently entering the water Will be removed by divers within 24 hours of occurrence. In addition, barriers will be in place to provide safe temporary Walking surfaces to protect the construction area and manage pedestrian traffic where areas of the marina are to be open to the public during the construction process.

Reasons for Exemption
Class 1 consists of the operation, repair, maintenance, permitting, leasing. licensing or minor alteration of existing public or private structures. Bayshore Marina is an existing private marina providing docking facilities to recreational boat owners and guests; Class 1 specifically allows for the restoration or rehabilitation of deteriorated or damaged structures (Section 15301(d)). No environmental impacts will occur during the redecking and replacement of dock equipment. Equipment staging will be done from the landslide parking area ,and the repairs Will not result in the expansion of or change in the existing configuration of the marina. Therefore, the Bayshore Marina redecking project can be considered exempt under a Class 1 Categorical exemption.
