The outer (seaward) 20 feet of a 60-foot long, 18" diameter culvert will be replaced. The tide gate structure runs through a 12-foot wide agricultural dike and drains diked agricultural lands into the Mad River Slough. Work for this encroachment will include excavation, removal of the failing culvert section, replacement with a new properly sized culvert, back-filling and compaction of fill, and rock armoring as necessary to minimize erosion.
