The proposed project would renovate the Botany Bui1Iding (37,351 gsf) to create interactive research space for faculty in the Ecology and Evolutionary Biology (EEB) Department and affiliated faculty in the institute of the Environment and Sustainability.
Pursuant to state law and University of California Procedures for Implementation of
CEQA, the proposed project is categorically exempt under Article 19, 15301, Class 1, Existing Facilities and Class 31, Historical Resource Restoration. The project is exempt under Class 1 because it consists primarily of interior renovation work in an existing facility where there would be a nominal expansion of use beyond existing conditions. It is also exempt under Class 31 as the project would repair and stabilize a historic resource in a manner consistent with the Secretary of the Interior's Standards for Treatment of Historic Properties.
