Document Description
The existing cement helicopter landing pad at the Columbia Air Attack Base needs to be expanded to accommodate larger rotary winged aircraft. The existing cement pad and lawn will be removed using a tracked excavator, loader and dump truck. A new cement pad, approximately 56-feet by 56-feet in size, will be poured in the same area as the existing cement pad and lawn. The demolition phase of the project is expected to take approximately one week. The construction phase of the project is expected to take approximately two weeks. Tree removal will not be required within the footprint of the construction; however, some trees adjacent to the new pad may need to be felled for adequate clearance for aircraft. The project is not adjacent to any watercourses. The topography is flat. The Columbia Air Attack Base is located near the town of Columbia in Tuolumne County. The airport is approximately 2,120 feet above sea level in elevation. Surrounding vegetation would best be described as oak woodland, with scattered Ponderosa and California Gray Pine.
