Document Description
The State Water Resources Control Board (State Water Board), as the responsible agency, will be issuing a water supply permit. The Coachella Valley Water District will drill Well 5683-1, a 1,700 gallon per minute, 1,300-foot deep well to replace Well 5666-1, a 1,574 gallon per minute, 950-foot deep well. Two 12-foot tall, less than 400 feet2 buildings will be constructed to house the pump, electric motor, the Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition system, and chlorination unit. 210 feet of piping will be installed to connect the well, pump, and chlorination system to the rest of the system. A 48-foot2 concrete pad and transformer will be installed to provide power to the motor. This project will provide for the operation of the facilities.

Reasons for Exemption
The State Water Board is a responsible agency for this project and is not responsible for the California Department of Fish and Wildlife filing fees. Well 5683-1 is a replacement of well 5666-1, with substantially the same purpose and capacity, (Class 2, 15302c). The two buildings are new small facilities not exceeding 2,500 square feet in floor area, (Class 3, 15303c). The pump, motor, SCADA system, chlorination unit, concrete pad, and transformer are considered accessory structures, (Class 3 15303e) and the ~210 feet of piping is water and other utility extensions of reasonable length to serve such construction, (Class 3, 1503d) (<16 in. diameter, <1 mile in length).
