Document Description
Phase 1 of the Grant UTK-8 Whole Site Modernization Project (Proposed Project) includes site work to include removal of portable classrooms, site demo, grading and underground utilities, procurement and installation of long lead system components and renovation of 2 existing UTK classrooms. Phase 2 includes the construction of the new administration building, counseling center and UTK-8 classroom. Phase 3 includes construction of new kindergarten classrooms, one new UTK classroom and one Science UTK-5 classroom; demolition of the existing administration/classroom building. Phase 4 includes removal of remaining portables, the construction of the new multi-purpose room and gym, middle school classrooms, special education classrooms; library, and miscellaneous support spaces. Phase 5 includes construction of remaining site work, play areas and field. To facilitate the proposed project, interim housing will be installed at the Harold J. Ballard Center located at 2375 Congress St, San Diego, CA 92110 and includes minor alterations to ten existing portable classroom buildings; alterations to one existing portable restroom building for accessibility compliance; construction one portable building for staff lounge/work room; construction of eight portable classroom buildings; and construction of two new portable restroom buildings. The scope also includes construction of a new lunch shelter, artificial grass field, a new pedestrian ramp to connect lower and upper campus, and other site renovations such as hardscape, landscape, and utility improvements. Construction of the Proposed Project would begin in October of 2026 and last through January of 2030. The interim housing project would begin in May of 2025 and last through June of 2026.
