The Sierra Nevada Conservancy would provide CCI funding in the amount of $150,000 to the USDA, Forest Service, Region 5 to quantify historic range of variability (HRV) to evaluate the relative effects of alternative future management scenarios on landscape structure. HRV studies the spatially and temporary dynamic mosaic of ecological systems. This project will result in an extended landscape scale for which the HRV Is available to public land managers. The value of this will be to be able to specifically evaluate the relative effects of alternative future management scenarios on landscape structure for the TCSI area specifically and for the Northern and Central Sierra forests in general.
