Document Description
Grant funds will allow Friends of Cow Mountain to maintain approximately 13 miles of trails and reroute a portion of one trail. Trail maintenance activities include cutting back brush intruding on the trails; installing water control features such as rolling dips and water bars using on-site materials for reinforcement such as large rocks and logs; and installing new signs. Maintenance activities are accomplished using hand tools and a Mini excavator with a thumb or brush cutter attachment. The trail re-route will stop OHV trespass and avoid a known cultural resources site. The trail reroute would be approximately 4 feet wide and 7,300 feet in length. Approximately 29,000 square feet or 0.66 acres of chaparral vegetation would be removed to accommodate the trail.
