Document Description
The proposed Project entails improvements to the City's wastewater collection system, including replacing/upsizing existing interceptor pipes, installing new pipe segments, rehabilitating a damaged pipe under 1-5, replacing manholes, and constructing a maintenance road that would be used during construction and to access the interceptor pipe during future maintenance activities. The improvements are needed because the existing collection system is unable to handle existing peak wet weather flows. In addition, in early 2017, a segment of the interceptor broke, causing the release of 2.69 million gallons of wastewater directly into Cold Creek, and ultimately into Lake Siskiyou. Approximately 1.3 million gallons of the release was raw sewage. The improvements will minimize the potential for future sanitary sewer overflows in areas of the City in which improvements would occur.
