Document Description
The proposed project would involve utility works by Crown Castle (Applicant) in the city of National City, California. Work to specifically complete the proposed project would involve the following: • Remove and replace antennas • Remove and replace remote radio units on the existing cell tower • Install new remote radio units on the existing cell tower • Relocate a remote radio unit from the equipment room to antenna level • Install a new wireless communications service filter on the existing cell tower • Remove GSM (Global System for Mobile communications) tower mounted amplifiers In addition, the following work would be completed inside of the existing equipment shelter: • Remove existing batteries and replace with new battery and power units • Replace the existing digital unit processor with a new baseband unit

The proposed project is determined to be Categorically Exempt pursuant to California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) Guidelines Sections 15301 (Existing Facilities), 15302 (Replacement or Reconstruction), and/or 15303 (New Construction or Conversion of Small Structures) and Sections 3.a. (7), 3.b., and/or 3.c. (3) of the District's Guidelines for Compliance with CEQA because it would consist of utility works that would utility works that would result in no expansion of use beyond that previously existing or a significant cumulative impact due to the continuation of the existing use; would consist of the replacement of existing equipment, would be located on the same site as the equipment being replaced, and would have substantially the same purpose and capacity; and would consist of the Installation of small new equipment and facilities in small structures. Section 3.a. (7), 3.b., and 3.c. (3) of the District's CEQA Guidelines
