Authorize approval to enter State sovereign land to conduct a Master's Research Project, through California State University, Northridge (CSUN), to install data collection instruments and collect specimens in tide pools, at several
locations near the cities of Malibu, Corona Del Mar, Long Beach, Newport Beach, and San Pedro. The purpose of the Project is to study the impacts of foundation species of California mussels and macro algae on species interaction,bio-geochemlstry, and ecosystem function.

Issuance of a letter of non-objection for the above-mentioned surveys will cause only a minor physical change in the environment and will not change existing activities in the area. There are no unusual circumstances surrounding the project that will result In significant environmental impacts. Therefore, the project will not have a significant effect on the environment and the above categorical exemption applies.
